Nou Toer Ons

O&L Leisure, NBL, Hartlief and Namibia Dairies recently committed to being part of the all new tv production “Nou Toer Ons” with our very own brand ambassador and sports legend, Toks Van Der Linde that is set to air on Supersport.

The lifestyle magazine show highlights lifestyle accommodation and activities throughout Namibia and South Africa, with O&L Leisure being host for the first 8 episodes.

So far, Mokuti Etosha Lodge as well as Strand Hotel Swakopmund have been privileged to host rugby legends Toks van der Linde and Breyton Paulse, as well as their surprise Rugby players.

Our partners Abenteuer Afrika Safari took the crew on quad biking, sand boarding, kayaking, catamaran experiences and just as an extra highlight they were treated to a desert dinner.

Victor Matfield falls in love with Namibia!

We had the pleasure of showcasing Mokuti Etosha Lodge and The Strand Hotel to the legend Victor Matfield, former Captain of the Springboks and hailed to be one of the best Locks  in the world.

Many South Africans have, over the years, been visiting exotic destinations all over the globe, and many are not aware of how beautiful our own continent is. This is the reason we got Victor and his beautiful wife, Monja, to share their impressions, with their many followers on social  media. Monja fell in love with Namibia and is ready to plan her next family holiday here. The staff at Mokuti and The Strand went out of their way to make them feel welcome and Victor caused quite a stir amongst the locals in Swakopmund.  They had an opportunity to “meet and greet” their hero at the Brewer and Butcher and enjoyed every second of their time with Victor.  

The Insider TV show on SABC 3

This show has been nominated as the best leisure TV production in SA at the SAFTA awards. The O & L Leisure group had the honour of hosting their crew to a 5 day visit of Mokuti Etosha Lodge and the Strand Hotel.  They brought along RSG DJ, Derrich Gardener, who hosts the Saturday morning show every week and who enjoys the highest listenership in South Africa.  He had his listeners in awe of Namibia and did a fantastic job of presenting the TV show.

The Insider, airs 19h30 on Tuesday with a repeat on Saturday night.  They featured this amazing trip in a 20 minute segment for viewers to enjoy. VIEW THE CLIP

Pastry school

In an effort to drive passion and ensure exceptional food experiences throughout the different companies within the O&L Group, our very own pastry chef at the Strand Hotel, Christiane, has implemented a new training program. Taking our chefs and their assistants on the journey of pastry making.

Christiane says the training take up was well and all have passed with an average of 60-80%. Pick ‘n Pay has already started implementing their newly developed skills and have enhanced their offering in the outlets. Thank you, Christiane, for your efforts and your continuous motivation and passion to create futures and enhance lives.

An Update On Migard Facelift

As we move through the facelift of Midgard Country Estate, we get to reveal new and exciting parts of the “New Midgard” to you. Our new restaurant will be opening soon, that will boast a culinary experience of a lifetime.

A new and fresh look, where the farmhouse lifestyle is paired with luxury experience awaits you in our new rooms. The reception has temporarily been moved as we are embarking on creating  a new check in experience for you and all our swimming pools are also going through a facelift to be ready for those hot days at the lodge where you need a relaxing and refreshing swim.

Our conferencing facility is brand new and exclusively versatile for any function or event you can think of.

And of course, we had to create a new adventurous playing ground for the little ones.

Jaco and Ivan Throwback

Throwback Celebration! To our two hero's returning to Strand Hotel Swakopmund. Ivan started at Strand Hotel as the Assistant GM and later moved on to become the GM of Mokuti Etosha Lodge. Jaco started with us as the Food and Beverage Manager until he ventured on as the GM of Midgard Country Estate. We are proud to announce that both Jaco and Ivan have returned to Strand Hotel Swakopmund as our new power duo of GM's.

Snake Park Update

Our Reptile park at Mokuti Etosha Lodge has gone through some exciting changes! Our team has been working hard to create reptile park that offers memorable and adventurous experiences for you.

These changes include a variety of new species added to the park, including snakes, spiders, lizzards and a very unique bull frog. Our spiders and lizzards now enjoy a special terrarium in the indoor enclosures. The snakes have additional heated lighting n=in their enclosures and the chicken enclosures are being leopards proofed. Our resident crocodile also enjoyed some upgrades to his habitat.

Welcome Back To Chobe!

Our Chobe Water Villas team is so excited to welcome guests to the lodge. With the Botswana border now open for travel from Botswana to Namibia, this makes for an even more exquisite and comfortable journey to the lodge. Under new management, the team has been working hard to curate luxurious and memorable experiences for our guests. Stay tuned to our pages to find out what is happening at this beautiful estate.
