Farmhouse Deli: A Taste of Italy by the Sea with a mouthwatering breakfast buffet

My culinary journey began at Farmhouse Deli, where breakfast is truly a standout experience. The moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere, paired with the scent of freshly baked croissants, immediately set the tone for what was to come. The space itself felt like a cozy seaside café, with ocean views that made it even more enchanting.

I started with a classic breakfast of freshly baked croissants, which were light, buttery, and flaked perfectly with each bite. Paired with a steaming cup of coffee, it was the kind of simple pleasure that made me feel right at home. But what really caught my attention was the Acai Bowl, a vibrant mix of fresh fruit, granola, and smooth acai puree that was not only visually stunning but refreshing and energizing. The balance of textures was perfect, and I could feel the boost of energy that came from such a wholesome start to the day.

Next came the Farmhouse Breakfast, a hearty and satisfying dish featuring eggs cooked just right, crispy bacon, and perfectly toasted sourdough bread. It was the ultimate comfort food, filling and flavorful, yet light enough to leave me feeling ready to take on the day.

As I savored every bite, I couldn’t help but take a glance at the rest of the menu. While my focus was on breakfast, I couldn’t ignore the tempting variety of items that awaited future visits, Chicken Alfredo, Pasta Carbonara, and Veggie Burgers were just a few of the dishes that I knew would make their way to my plate next time.

To cap off my breakfast experience, I indulged in a classic Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, the velvety smooth filling paired with a buttery biscuit crust was pure bliss. The lightly sweet flavor was a perfect balance to the richness of the breakfast, leaving me feeling completely satisfied and ready for the day ahead.

With the ocean breeze, the friendly atmosphere, and the delightful food, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start to my day.

Ocean Cellar: A Symphony of Seafood

After that satisfying start to the day, I made my way to Ocean Cellar, the gem of the Strand Hotel’s dining options. From the moment I entered, I was enveloped in a sophisticated atmosphere that blended modern elegance with coastal charm. The soft sound of waves crashing just outside made it feel as though the ocean was an integral part of the dining experience.

I kicked off my meal with the Fish Chowder, which was rich, creamy, and filled with tender pieces of fish that tasted like they had just been pulled from the ocean. It was the perfect way to ease into the next course.

Then came the Ocean Cellar Sushi Platter, a beautiful assortment of fresh, expertly prepared sushi that was as vibrant as it was delicious. The tuna and avocado rolls were perfectly balanced, while the prawn nigiri had a delicate sweetness that complemented the tangy soy sauce.

For the main course, I indulged in the Seared Tuna, its beautifully crispy exterior gave way to a melt-in-your-mouth interior, making it an absolute highlight. The Grilled Salmon, with its rich, tender texture and subtly smoky flavor, was another standout dish. The delicate balance of flavors left me wanting more.

To finish off my meal, I treated myself to Lemon Meringue Pie, a dessert that was as refreshing as it was delicious. The tangy lemon curd contrasted perfectly with the light, airy meringue, and the crisp, buttery crust added the right amount of texture. It was a wonderful, zesty end to an incredible seafood experience.

A crisp Sauvignon Blanc was the ideal wine pairing, its citrusy freshness cutting through the richness of the seafood and elevating the entire meal. I couldn’t have asked for a better ocean-inspired feast.

Café Mole: Nostalgic Flavors with a Modern Twist

After all that indulgence, I was ready for something playful and nostalgic, and Café Mole was the perfect place to end my culinary journey. With its 50’s-style ice cream parlor vibe, this charming spot evoked a sense of fun, and I couldn’t wait to dive into their classic comfort foods.

The Cheeseburger was exactly what I needed, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by a generous layer of melted cheese. The crispy, golden French fries were the perfect side, and each bite took me back to the kind of carefree meals I used to enjoy as a child.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist the Waffle topped with velvety vanilla soft serve, the contrast of warm and cold was delightful, and the soft serve’s sweetness was the perfect pairing with the crispy waffle. It was a sweet and satisfying way to end the meal, evoking a sense of nostalgia with every bite.

To wash it all down, I enjoyed a refreshing Mango Milkshake. The thick, creamy texture and rich mango flavor were the perfect complement to my meal, providing a cool and satisfying finish to my visit.

Brewer & Butcher: A Celebration of Meat, Craft Beer, and Flavor

The final stop on my culinary journey was Brewer & Butcher, a rustic yet refined space where the art of meat preparation meets the craft of brewing. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and the ocean-facing terrace immediately made me feel at home as I prepared to dive into their hearty offerings. But it wasn’t just the food that grabbed my attention, it was the air itself. The intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed beer mingled with the smoky scent of meat on the braai, creating a mouthwatering atmosphere that set the tone for the meal ahead.

I started with the Roasted Bone Marrow, a dish that was as rich and indulgent as it sounds. The buttery marrow was incredibly flavorful, making it a perfect start to the more substantial dishes to follow. Then came the Schweinshaxe, a tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork knuckle with crispy skin that was simply irresistible. The balance of textures was perfect, and I found myself enjoying each bite more than the last.

As I continued to savor the hearty dishes, I indulged in the Beer Tasting Experience, a journey through some of the best craft beers they had to offer. Each glass was expertly poured, offering a refreshing variety of flavors that paired beautifully with the meats. The Pilsner, with its crisp, clean taste, contrasted perfectly with the rich, smoky flavors of the pork knuckle. Meanwhile, the Weissbier was light and slightly fruity, a perfect complement to the lighter Veggie Burger I had also sampled. The combination of fresh aromas, the malty sweetness of the beer and the smoky, charred scent of the meat on the braai, was a sensory feast.

For dessert, I indulged in their Chocolate Lava Cake, decadent and gooey on the inside, with a warm, molten center that oozed out in the most indulgent way. The rich chocolate flavor was perfectly complemented by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, making each bite feel like a decadent treat. It was the perfect way to cap off such a hearty meal.

A chilled Märzen beer was the perfect complement to the Schweinshaxe. Its smooth maltiness brought out the savory richness of the pork, and I took my time savoring each sip, knowing this was a meal to remember.
