O&L Leisure is proud to be part of the Brand Namibia journey

Namibia took a significant step forward in defining its identity on the world stage when the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Technology (MICT), under the leadership of Honourable Emma Theofelus, hosted a Brand Namibia strategy development workshop in collaboration with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB). Bringing together key stakeholders, the two-day workshop was convened to formulate the official Brand Namibia strategy, one that will position Namibia as a nation defined by its people, its values, and its unique offerings. O&L Leisure was honoured to play a supporting role, hosting the workshop at Midgard, sponsoring the full conference venue and all food and beverage requirements and offering preferential accommodation rates to delegates.

Establishing a Brand Namibia strategy marks a defining moment for the country. A nation's brand, its standing, credibility and reputation in the eyes of the world, shapes how it engages internationally and how attractive it is for trade, tourism and investment. With Namibia staking its claim not only across the African continent but globally, a distinct and purposeful national identity has never been more essential. A powerful brand gives the world a reason to choose Namibia, a reason to visit, to invest and to advocate for everything this extraordinary country represents. Equally important, Brand Namibia will give Namibians themselves the tools and the pride to own and drive that narrative.

O&L Leisure welcomes and commends government for finalising this important step in the Brand Namibia journey. “We are acutely aware of the immense potential a well-executed national brand holds for Namibia and we are excited about what lies ahead if it is implemented with the intent and commitment it deserves,” said Maryke van Lill, Marketing General Manager at O&L Leisure. “At O&L Leisure, we understand the power of brand — our ‘Namibia through our eyes’ platform was born from a deep belief that authentic storytelling is the most powerful tool we have. Through this lens we have been able to show Namibians and global travellers the soul of our country: its landscapes, its people and its spirit. Brand Namibia aspires to do the same on a national scale and we could not be more supportive of that vision.”

Van Lill added that the link between a strong national brand and tourism is undeniable. She added: “Tourism and investment are intertwined. A tourist might become an investor, having experienced a destination first-hand, identified its opportunities and fallen in love with what it has to offer. Brand Namibia has the potential to unlock both, creating a virtuous cycle of visits, investment and growth that reaches every corner of the country.”

O&L Leisure looks forward to actively partnering with government to promote Namibia — within its borders and beyond them. The O&L Group remains deeply committed to supporting this initiative, to ensuring it realises its full potential and to contributing to the growth and prosperity of the whole country and all the people who call it home.
